Terms
What you can expect from Maná, and what we expect from whoever uses it. It is written to be understood.
What Maná is
A free app to read the Bible, study the Sabbath School lesson and be with your congregation. There is no subscription, there are no ads and nothing inside is charged for.
Who provides this service
Victor Abel Romero Serrano, an individual, in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. There is no company or corporation behind it, and the email for anything is soporte@themanateam.app.
Your account
- You need to be over 13.
- The details you give have to be yours and true. Passing yourself off as someone else, as a pastor or as a church is grounds for closing the account.
- You can delete it from the app whenever you want, without asking permission or writing to anyone.
What you write is yours
It stays yours. By publishing it you give us permission to store it and show it to whoever it corresponds to depending on where you publish it, be it your church, your group or the open wall, and for nothing else. We do not use it in advertising, we do not sell it and we do not train models with it.
What cannot be published
- Insults, harassment or threats against anyone.
- Sexual or violent content, or content promoting self-harm.
- Another person's data without their permission.
- Spam, chain messages, businesses or political campaigns.
- Material you do not hold the rights to.
Any post can be reported from the app, and anyone can be muted. We review what is reported and we may remove content or close accounts. If you think we got it wrong, write to us at soporte@themanateam.app.
The AI assistant
Its answers are written by a language model from the passage it has in front of it. It gets things wrong. Every answer says so, and that is why it cites where it takes what it claims from: so that you can go and check it.
- It does not replace your pastor or your teacher. Whatever does not add up, take it to them.
- It gives no medical, legal or financial advice, and it is not help in a crisis. If you are going through something serious, the app shows you a phone number for your country. Call it.
- The answers are not official doctrine of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, nor is Maná affiliated with any church organisation.
The biblical text and other materials
The text of the Bible comes from public domain editions served by HelloAO. The Sabbath School lesson comes from Adventech and belongs to its authors. The writings of Ellen G. White belong to the White Estate: Maná only links to their official sources and does not reproduce their works.
Donations
They are accepted, they are voluntary and they go to the costs of the app: the servers, the licences of the two stores and what the artificial intelligence assistant costs. They are charged through Stripe, which is who handles the card details; we neither see them nor store them.
They are not tax deductible while The Maná Team is not a registered non-profit organisation, and they give no right to anything inside the app: whoever donates and whoever does not sees exactly the same. A one-off donation is not refunded except in error; a monthly one is cancelled whenever you want by writing to us, and stops being charged from the following month.
The clothing
Garments by IMPRL Studioare sold, and where what you pay goes depends on the garment. Those in the La Previa line support that ministry and not Maná. The rest sustain Maná: its costs and the person who develops it. Each garment says which on its own card, before you pay.
They are sold by pre-order, and that changes what you are buying, so it is worth saying slowly:
- The garment does not exist yet when you pay. It is produced after the pre-order period, and delivered on the date written on its own page.
- The delivery date is a forecast, not a promise. If it is delayed we tell you by email, and if the delay goes beyond thirty days you can ask for a refund.
- They are handed over in person, not shipped. The pickup is on 2 October at Rancho Escondido, and the date and place are written on each garment. If you cannot come, write to us before that day at soporte@themanateam.app and we arrange how to get it to you, or we refund you.
- Exchanges and returns: you have thirty days from picking it up to return it unworn and with its tag, writing to that same address. If it has a fault or is not what you ordered, it is exchanged at no cost.
- None of this takes away the rights your country's consumer law gives you. In Mexico, those of the Federal Consumer Protection Law.
What we do not promise
Maná is offered as it is. We do what we can to make it work, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available or that it will have no faults. Keep your own copy of what you cannot lose.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, and whatever cannot be sorted out by writing to us is seen by the courts of Ensenada, Baja California. If you live in another country, this does not take away a single right your country's consumer law gives you: those come before anything this page says.
If this changes
We will announce it in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use it after a change means you accept it; if not, you can delete your account.
